Schuld&Sühne Room installation Video work Objects
First shown at Galerie Met | 2025 | Berlin: Spatial design, video installation, objects, 2 works on paper, as addition for fieldnotes
About
As part of Fieldnotes but can also be seen as one work. The installation is a metaphor for deep origins of trauma and narcissistic outer protection shell, that one put on after bad experiences. Chamber of exclusion and inclusion, simultaneous dying and surviving. It demonstrates difficulties of isolation and deprivation, cause and effect. Literally eaten away by maggots, only hatching flies bear witness to the drama at its core. Dry straw, a heavy stone on a field bed, belt as symbol of self-discipline, asceticism, binoculars for a safe look outside. Siegadel shows a cadaver of a deer in decay state – it was killed by wolves in the woods. The scene metaphorically depicts the harshness but also the pragmatic logic that, in a certain sense, revolves only around itself without external disturbance and seems to endlessly repeat a drama of life and death. In the exhibition, the video functioned as symbol for the innermost core of a trauma, literally eaten away by maggots, which narcissistically devours and feeds itself.
